INVENTORY CONTROL OPTIMIZATION: IMPLICATIONS ON BUSINESS PROFITABILITY

RESUMEN: El adecuado manejo y control de inventarios (CI) en empresas comercializadoras es clave para reducir costos, mejorar la rentabilidad y optimizar los recursos. Este estudio analiza cómo una mala gestión de inventarios (desvalorización y aumento de gastos operativos) afecta negativamente la utilidad neta. Mediante un enfoque cuantitativo, se examinaron los estados financieros de Saga Falabella (2018-2022), encontrando una correlación directa entre un CI eficiente y la rentabilidad de la empresa. Un control óptimo (evitando desvalorizaciones) mejora el resultado operativo y neto, reflejándose positivamente en los indicadores ROE y ROA.

ABSTRACT: Proper inventory management and control (IM) in marketing companies is key to reducing costs, improving profitability, and optimizing resources. This study analyzes how poor inventory management (depreciation and increased operating expenses) negatively impacts net income. Using a quantitative approach, the financial statements of Saga Falabella (2018-2022) were examined, revealing a direct correlation between efficient inventory management (IM) and the company's profitability. Optimal control (avoiding depreciation) improves operating and net income, positively reflected in the ROE and ROA indicators.
