Jaime Enrique Quispe Huayta1, Irvin Agramonte Cruz1

ABSTRACT: Community tourism is a sustainable development model that allows local communities to manage their own tourism resources, generating economic benefits, strengthening cultural identity and promoting environmental conservation. This study, based on a bibliographic review, highlights that community tourism contributes to income diversification, job creation and the strengthening of social capital, providing communities with greater autonomy and participation in decision-making. However, it faces significant challenges, such as limited access to financing, poor infrastructure and dependence on intermediaries, which makes its consolidation and expansion difficult. Likewise, key innovations are identified, such as digitalization and the circular economy, that can improve its sustainability and competitiveness. The research concludes that the success of community tourism depends on self-management, strategic planning and cooperation with governments and the private sector, ensuring equitable and sustainable growth that benefits both the host communities and the natural and cultural environment in which it develops in the long term.
