ABSTRACT: This study aimed to determine the effect of experimental archaeology on the development of research skills in undergraduate students at a national university in Lima. It was a field study with an experimental design, a pre-experimental level, and a quantitative approach. Twenty-two students participated in the research, attending learning sessions. The independent variable was measured through observation, while the dependent variable was measured using a self-assessment questionnaire on their research skills. This instrument was validated by expert review, and the data had a reliability of 0.936.

The results showed that 81% of the students were at a beginner level and 18.18% at an advanced level in research skills. Following the application of experimental archaeology, the percentage of students at the beginner level was 31.81%, the percentage at an advanced level was 63.63%, and the percentage at an advanced level was 4.54%, with the latter group demonstrating greater proficiency in research. Therefore, it was concluded that the application of Experimental Archaeology allows the development of investigative skills in students, demonstrating mastery of conceptual and attitudinal aspects.
